About Us

For over a decade, Amy Webster and Patrick Puffpaff have been serving classic Comfort Food at Pop’s Diner in Carolina Beach. Their hand-pattied cheese burgers, chicken and waffles, and sandwiches, like the Reuben made with slow-roasted meats, are especially popular. It’s only natural for the pair to consider a second food venture on Pleasure Island. “My husband loves to cook all different types of food,” said Webster.

Now the pair are trying something new that will bring Asian Fusion style food to Pleasure Island. They have opened Puffy’s Magic Dragon, named for Puffpaff’s longtime nickname. They are located in the former Ida Thai location at 304 N. Lake Park Blvd. (Ida Thai, meanwhile, has re-opened in the Monkey Junction area at 5920 Carolina Beach Road in the Beau Rivage Marketplace.)

They’ve been updating the space with an Asian dragon-inspired look and will have enough seating for 25 customers inside. They also plan to add an outdoor bar in the coming weeks. The food will be a mix of Asian and American favorites according to Webster. “Look for unique dishes like Crab Rangoon pizza and Wonton Tacos.”

“But it will be more upscale,” she said. “We won’t be using processed food. We’ll have actual lump crabmeat and lobster and all our sauces are homemade. Everything will come in fresh or be made in-house.”

For Pop’s Diner’s fans, Webster said they plan to continue business there. Pop’s 50s Diner less than a half-mile away at 109 N. Lake Park Blvd.
